budget. obama said i am going to give more money and attention to our vets. i'm going to put more focus into making sure veterans affairs gets the funding that it needs. as for the folks at the debate party they had a lot of opinions about all the different subjects that were reached. >> obama has daughters, comes across as a loving father that cares about our future for not only men but women. i think that has come out in all the debates. >> romney's experience of creating jobs and wealth for himself as an individual as our president has not done that. romney has a track record of creating jobs. he knows where to cut businesses and how to create jobs. >> reporter: what it is coming down to now both romney and bomb

campaign doesn't. this is clearly an area in which he is able to excel. >> let's talk about tone. you talk tone. the president was on the attack. he was attacking mitt romney. mitt romney said attacking me is not a plan. did the president go too far or were the attacks right? >> i don't think he went too far. i can understand why people can think that is the case. one of the more memorable moments was in the second presidential debate where obama defended his record in benghazi and got an audience applause. we also want to keep in mind that this debate was about whether or not each could pass the test of being commander in chief. what obama was trying to do was disqualify romney from being able to be a consistent

commander in chief by bringing up areas where romney has been inconsistent. >> experts say that mitt romney did -- maybe he lost on points but passes the commander in chief test. >> the bar for that was pretty low on what you need to do. particularly with this being a domestic election where the economy is what we are primarily concerned about ultimately that was the reason why romney was tacking back to the center because he ultimately needed to make sure that the public didn't connect his economic agenda to a foreign policy strategy that was more hawkish. i thought he was successful in doing that. >> it is a strong suit. that could decide this election. let's listen to mitt romney here. he got under the president's skin talking about this apology

tour. let's listen to that. >> the president began what i called an apology tour going to various nations in the middle east and criticizing america. i think they looked at that and saw weakness. >> nothing governor romney just said is true. starting with the notion of me apologizin apologizing. this has been probably the biggest whopper told during the course of this campaign. >> i thought the discussion was good. it was clear it was an area in which obama had been thinking about and concerned about how the american public would perceive him as being someone on the side of america and on the side of american leadership. i thought this was a good place and one of the better moments for romney and the way in which the president responded. >> hopefully we have time real quick. where president obama is going after mitt romney for thinking.

the fda is looking at whether monster energy drink is responsible for the deaths of five people including a 14-year-old girl. last week the teen's mom filed a lawsuit against the makers of the beverage. monster the top selling energy drink says it doesn't believe the drink was linked to the teen's death. a lot of questions here. joining me to talk about this is senior medical correspond elizabeth cohen.

let's get to the tragedy at hand. >> when you take a look at the lawsuit they say she edrank two 24 ounce cans of the drink. this is 16 ounces. they say she drank one can larger than this and 24 hours later drank another can. it says she knew she had and her parents presumably knew that she had a heart condition. she had a valve condition and nobody had told her she needed to be careful with caffeine. when you have these conditions it is well known you are supposed to be careful with caffeine. this is a lot of caffeine. there is a lot of caffeine in here. people are supposed to be careful with caffeine with this condition. >> if you take the two cans that she drank which were larger than these that is about the same as the amount of caffeine in like

14 cokes or 13 pepsis. it is probably even more and i will explain why. there is something called guarana which has caffeine in it. there is caffeine and then the guarana has caffeine. so there was at least that much caffeine in there. >> just real quick on that point and i know you are about empowering us as patients and consumers we need to know those things. when you are drinking that will give you a jolt then the hidden caffeine like guarana and a couple of other things. >> i'm going to be a little judgmental out there. i have a daughter this age. and she has been telling me for a couple of years now that her friends when they can't finish their homework 11:00 and 12:00 at night that they are chugging these. as a mother i go ewhat are those

parents thinking? i know they may seem harmless. it is not like chugging alcohol or something. when something is called monster it is called monster for a reason. so you want to be careful. in this case the girl did have a heart condition that put her at higher risk. caffeine is a stimulant to your heart. this is not the same as drinking a glass of water. >> or one soda or a cup of coffee. >> and i'm not trying to say that i'm blaming anyone for anything. know what you are drinking and know your health history. >> five deaths potentially linked here. should there be warnings? should the fda be jumping in here? >> even potentially linked that language people are uncomfortable with. there was a lawsuit and the folks who filed the family managed to get this information

in the public with the five deaths linked. you called the fda and said you knew this. they said there is no cause and effect relationship here. we haven't -- no one has established that the drinks cause the problems. so they didn't make this public until the lawsuit forced them to make it public. all the more reason why you need to be an empowered parent and empowered patient. it may be the deaths had nothing to do with the drinks. you can eat or drink anything or take any drug you want and you can call the fda and something bad happens you can call the fda and say i ate a carrot and got a blister on my toe. there is no causal relationship. there is no cause and effect. they take these in and investigate each one. they never made this public until the lawsuit forced them to. >> knowledge is power to know what is in this or any drink like this.

welcome back. late breaking information coming in from the jessica ridgeway case. the police made a direct connection between the murder of this 10-year-old girl and a man who attack ad female jogger back in may. in that may attack, 22-year-old woman was jogging when a man grabbed her from behind, tried to put a chemical laced rag over her mouth. she escaped and called 911. the officers never found the attacker. that suspect was described as a light-skinned man who ranged in age from 18 to his 30s.

next will be comparing these two unknown samples related in two separate crimes matching them against the combined dna index system that's run by the fbi. and what they try to do is determine if this unknown individual is a repeat -- you know, recidivist. somebody that has been arrested in the past and will come up with a name. that's where they are headed with in when they say they have scientific certain proof. >> got it. ok okay. >> the combined dna index system which is maintained the fbi. >> okay. you take that, dna that matches jessica's murder and also the -- attack back in may, and then that's put in the system. what's the timeline? how long does it take to find out if we got a match here with some registered sex off enders, something like that?

>> well -- it will take some time. i would say days. but i'm sure that they have been, you know, around the clock working this because of the -- you know, precarious nature of this -- i believe that this is a fresh out of the box homicidal psychopath who escalated his behavior in the past -- recent past. this past year. this individual dna may not even be in the database at this point in time. >> when you say fresh out of the box, you are saying that this isn't someone that may have committed a crime like the two or five years ago but just in the last year ramped up this kind of criminal behavior. >> yes. from what we know about the profile, particularly about -- you know, child objection murderers, it is a very distinctive profile about them.

nevada, colorado. everybody will be going to go to ohio. president will be swinging through florida, ohio, colorado and virginia. last stop new hampshire. one of the mine states. analysts saying we saw the poll, president obama had the edge of last night's debate with mitt romney who is actually agreeing with the president a lot more than most thought he would. what did each candidate's body language really subway them? joining me to talk about that, body language expert, chris. what was the message behind the messagesome what were you seeing about body language here? were they more angry and on edge than what we saw? >> well, it is a great question. in the last debate, the second debate, we saw a lot of political theater. here people are saying it is less political theater, that does not mean there wasn't a lot of action going on here. both candidates -- president obama using what we call power basketball type steeple here to explain his points, keeping his body language open and always turning at romney and confronting romney. romney really dominated the room most of the night.

we saw a very different measured -- mr. romney with his hands crossing the interlocked position. starting the debate. seen the prior debates, his hands were much more engaged, here about being attentive and also almost obedient so he could be seen as much more acceptable and part of their measured strategy. i don't think it worked for him overall. >> why do you say that? >> if you look at him during that debate, there is a lot of times he's kind of sitting very kind of -- locked in like this. what we saw in the previous debates, him turning and engaging the president and really taking him on. there are a lot much opportunities where he missed that opportunity to turn andiousing his own powerful body language we saw in the first debate and the second debate and take the president on where the president was landing a lot of zingers at him with that open and powerful body language. >> let's watch one. let's watch when mitt romney went at the president and is talking about an apology tour p. the president didn't like it. it is mitt romney basically say when the president first took office, went on the tour, let's

gauge body language. it will be interesting to see what you say. >> the president began what i called an apology tour of going to various nations in the middle east and criticizing america. i think they look at that and saw weakness. >> nothing governor romney said is true. starting with this notion of me apologizing. this has been probably the biggest whopper told during the course of this campaign. >> after that mitt romney did look at president obama and said here is why i called it an apology tour because you went to this country and that country ask skipped israel. was this more mitt romney being more assertive than -- >> yes. and -- let's keep in mind here watching the president, that -- both of these guys throughout the debate and part of the action, something we call micro expresses. expressi expressions that happen within 1/15th of a second. when he was calling mitt out on the maef and attacks in that particular situation, he does a half smile, contempt.

where we -- call this moral superior thank you where we feel our answer is better and we have the better opinion than what's being put at us. what romney was taking on the president he flashes an expression of anger, brow comes down and face gets tense. aimed at really hammering home his point. yes, it was -- this was a confrontational point in the debate that was saw last night. >> how do you compare mitt romney from debate number lee and mitt romney from debate number one? talk body language. >> great question. total reversal. almost a decision to gae back to the romney we had expected to see in the first debate. gestures were very controlled and confined in his body. first debate we saw him very engaged, turning to the president, using a lot of hand gestures. in this debate we saw him go back to a much more measured approach. the only thing we do notice with him, something he did periodically when he was being zinged by the president is this -- interesting thing we call a tongue protrusion where he literally would stick his

samantha is 4'11" tall, weighs 98 pounds, blond hair and blue eyes. we will keep you posted on that. welcome back to hln. the desperate search for a 12-year-old girl missing in new jersey has ended in tragedy. police found the body of autumn in clayton yesterday. she was last seen on saturday. autumn told her dad she was just riding her bike to a friend's house. she never made it. search crews found her body inside of a recycling container. an autopsy is scheduled for today. police say they have no suspects yet. let's talk to investigator reporter. michelle, i realize this is very, very early. but what -- there has been other crimes in this area that they are looking for possible connections to. tell us about that. >> there are other crimes. i do have some breaking and new information for the viewers right now. i spoke with the westwood police

department. he tells me that on october 18, this is about two hours away from where autumn was -- autumn's body was found. there was an attempted abduction of a 13-year-old in the area. she was not harmed. she was not taken. but she was approached by a gentleman. and when she got to school she gave all that information to officials. they set up two roadblocks in westwood. that evening and again the next morning and passed out about 2,000 flurs on that particular case. what he also tells me is that within his area, some other counties, there have been possibly six or seven other attempted abductions from those areas. i did reach out to the prosecutor's office and have not heard back yet. i'm waiting for a phone call. but they are looking for a possible link. again, that's not saying that's a link to ought up's case. but it is definitely something to be aware from that area. the suspect in that -- october 18 abduction is a white male,

short hair, balding on the top. gray four-door hatchback vehicle with the nypd sticker in the window. and he says his name is richard. >> the good news is these -- young women, young kids, that were -- person tried to abduct, were able to give a good description. >> yes. exactly. because it -- what it appears is that he was actually approaching these children, engaging in conversation, and trying to get them to come with them. there was a case i had just read literally within the last five minutes that actually may have possibly and again, we don't know if it is the same suspect or not. in one of the incidents put his hands on one of the children and tried to drag that child away from a game. so, again, the -- prosecutor's office is handling all of those attempted abduction cases. so i -- i'm waiting to hear back from them to find out if that suspect is, in fact, related to all of those cases. as for auto industry up's case i have spoken to the prosecutor's office and her case and what i can tell you is they are looking

but more men think that romney did better. cafe mom.com lindsay fehrier joins us to talk about what some moms thought of the debate. always good to talk to you. i guess my first question, you know, they did talk about some domestic issues and pivot to the economy but clearly about foreign policy. how did that register with the women and the moms who visit your site? >> well, it is interesting because typically foreign policy is low on the list of concerns. it's a dry topic among moms but with the race so close, so many moms tuned in last tight and discussing this debate. and i thought that the argument between moms last night really came down to the level of involvement that they felt the united states should have in foreign affairs. one comment that was very popular on our website last night is when did america become the hall monitor of the world? let's let other countries learn to stand on their own two feet

minutes of each other. police released this composite sketch of the suspect and michigan authorities looking for a black ford mustang with a racing stripe down the center of the car and blue tinted front lights. a courtroom drama with a man who claims he was britney spears manager in recess. he testified in the lawsuit against spears insisted he managed her for a while and deserves a share of her millions. he wants 15% of what she earned between 2007 and 2008, rather. yesterday, a top recording executive testified he was nothing more than a gopher and handled menial tasks for her and he's suing spears' mother for libel and ruled that the medical records cannot be used. lin spears says that he controlled her daughter and gave her drugs and he says he tried

and he's giving us insight in to the life of a superstar. he testifies he met her in 2007 and she liked him because he was the first person to say no and she had asked him for his hat and he said, no, because he wanted to cover his balding head. and she said, you know, i like a person who says no to me. that i think right there, that anecdote, vignette, if it is true, is a real insight in to what it's like to be a superstar that you actually make friends and invite a person in to your life just because they had the audacity to say no to you over giving them a hat. and then there's the whole issue of the paparazzi. lin spears had called sam lutfi, the general of the paparazzi, essentially saying he used the paparazzi to manipulate and corner britney and what he is saying on the stand is oh, au

contraire. what i did is she was having a meltdown of being chased of dozens of paparazzi all the time and yelling slurs at her for a provocative photo and managed to manage the paparazzi and a deal with them so they would be ready for a couple of polite pics and then go on the merry way. so who knows? but it really does give you an insight in to this is a young man, beautiful, famous, talented, super rich. the world at her feet and then when you look behind closed doors, she is having a meltdown over divorce, child custody issues, the paparazzi chasing her, everybody being a yes person around her. she doesn't know where to turn and invites a stranger in to her life and i think it's absolutely fascinating. i want to say that on my show, 7:00 p.m. eastern, we'll be all over this for the week as the trial evolves and a very sad case. the body of a beautiful

have you picked it up? >> one of the editors had the chance to get it and touch and play with it in kind of their showcase room but really the ipad mini, a nice piece of hardware but a little pricey to be honest compared to what else is on the market and comparing it to. >> so it starts at $329, right? >> correct. >> okay, hmm. you think that's a little much for what this is? >> i think the biggest thing is that a lot of 7-inch tablets and apple is fine. 7.9 inches and compared it to what else is on the market and seems disingenuous to compare to a $199 and only feature the best of yours. ultimately, people are going to buy this tablet. there's still a large market of users that want a smaller tablet but $329, you have product that

you talk about building customers and loyalty, they announced an updated ipad fourth generation full size and what that means is that the ipad 3 was just released six months ago. apple decided to say, hey, we are going to give you a faster processor, faster wi-fi. we expected the new ipad to come out but not one that would really the guts inside revamped. there's a lot of people going to be upset to think, wow, i bought a regular ipad and then they just updated it six months for a product lifetime? product life cycle is very short and i think it turned off a lot of people and people who haven't purchased in a while but that's a shocker today. >> you think it's overshadowed by everyone talking about the mini? >> yeah. i think ultimately the headline is going to be apple's ipad mini is here just in time for the holiday season.
